What is likely cause of grinding noise when put into 4 wheel drive and possible cost of repair?

Transfer case, front differential, front axle, front wheel bearings. Anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand. Just depends on what's wrong.

Thanks for the quick response!....the shop has it now and has not called yet. It has 180K on it so just preparing myself for the high end repair cost.
