If you change the engine... you will need to change the computer and possibly the transmission. Doing the headgaskets would be far easier. Also why are you using Dex-Cool? You need to use the standard green stuff in these cars...

I was a service manager for a Ford dealership for 5 years. I have a 3.0 litre v 6 engine with under 100,000 kms. on it. You should not have to change anything but the engine itself as long as it is going into a late 90,s or early 2000,s Taurus. The main reason for head gasket leaks is because of the head bolts cracking internally and thus loosing tork pressure causing leaks. The repair for those problem ,models is to replace all the head bolts one by one and tork to specs as you go one bolt at a time. If you already show signs of head gasket leaks you will need to do a complete head gasket replacement or engine replacement. Please contact me if you are interested in the engine. at granny82bear@outlook.com
