3.0 BLOWN HEAD GASKET ENGINE SWAP

I HAVE 3.0 in my taurus and it recently blown a head gasket and began leaking dex-cool into the exhaust and causeing my plug to get wet and misfire.... is it possible to swap out the 3.0 for a sho motor....if i do this will the motor mounts match up...and will i have to get a new tranny and computer

what year sho engine are we talking and it should match up i do believe. on the 3.0 a head gasket is not that hard of a repair though. i did it on my 95 that i had and i had a supercharger and shit on mine. it came out of a p71 sable
ima try to go to pick n pull in Virginia to get one out of 1999 taurus just like mine except for it will b a v8 instead of the 3.0....or would i b better off gettin a v6 dohc 24 v6 sho

If you change the engine... you will need to change the computer and possibly the transmission. Doing the headgaskets would be far easier. Also why are you using Dex-Cool? You need to use the standard green stuff in these cars...
I was a service manager for a Ford dealership for 5 years. I have a 3.0 litre v 6 engine with under 100,000 kms. on it. You should not have to change anything but the engine itself as long as it is going into a late 90,s or early 2000,s Taurus. The main reason for head gasket leaks is because of the head bolts cracking internally and thus loosing tork pressure causing leaks. The repair for those problem ,models is to replace all the head bolts one by one and tork to specs as you go one bolt at a time. If you already show signs of head gasket leaks you will need to do a complete head gasket replacement or engine replacement.
