Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I found a car on here and when I went to the
dealership to purchase they charged me much
more than the price listed on car gurus... did I get
shafted?

Dealers will charge whatever you will pay. Apparently you don't read what you sign until afterwards.

If you're talking about sales tax, title, and registration fees, no you didn't get shafted. These are required fees by your State that are not included in the advertised selling price. Then there's the "doc fees". That's the fee that they add on for processing your paperwork. Some dealers charge way too much for that. Sometimes in excess of $500! That's an absolute rip off! I'll go $100 on the doc fee and even then I consider that a gift! So if you allowed them to tack on several hundred dollars for the doc fee, then yes, you got ripped off on that part. But consider it a lesson learned for next time!! Hope that helps! Jim
