can you use 205/R50 17 tires on a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

Well the first 3 digit number measures the width of the tire (sidewall to sidewall) in millimeters. So the 205 tires are ten milometers shorter than the tires that are required for your wheel size. A tire that is too thin may not inflate properly on the rim, and one that is too wide may damage the rim and wheel well. It can probably work but I wouldn't recommend that you use them. Hope this helped!

go to tire rack and they will show the alternate sizes that your car can run, my guess is that is shouldnt be a problem but check to make sure .. could also check the eclipse forums as well
