2007 Chrysler 300 Fuel Pump

We changed the fuel pump in a 2007 Chrysler 300 and ever since, there is a terrible gas smell inside the car and the gas gauge wont work. We have checked the seal and it is fine.

When I apply the brake my etps comes on the lighting bolt but as soon as I shut it off and turn it back on it runs fine. It just comes on when brake is applied any ideas why ?
