Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I get out of my 2011 GMC Terrain & lock the doors, the light sensor in the center of the dash turns red for about 10 secs then starts flashing,  This continues until I unlock the car.

when it turns red it is arming the security system- when it is blinking, it is warning potential thieves that the alarm is active- it shuts off because when you unlock the car, you are disarming the security system.
