security indicator light on dash flashing

Asked by don7subaru Nov 01, 2015 at 04:19 PM about the 2016 Subaru Forester

Question type: General

I have a 2016 Forester. Up until this morning I never saw an indicator light
flashing on the dash. I have read many contradictory posts on the net none of
them clear. What is the status of this light? Should it be on while the car's not
locked? Should it flash faster when locked? Why was it not on before today
and how did it get activated.

If the car starts and runs ,,, you can assume it's not a valid security fault...I would take it in under warranty ...

If it is the green security light it is supposed to flash as a deterrent.

It is a red light. It was not flashing until today. There is a valet mode. I must have been in it. How I changed it is unknown and nobody has an easy or correct answer. The car manual is confusing and the internet full of contrary posts. At one point the manual says to reference a certain page and that page then says to reference the previous page.@#$%^

I prefer to set them in the "occasional flashing when locked" state which you've stumbled upon. Enjoy....
