Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1999 Dodge Ram Pick-up Truck has lost reverse gear. I have all other gears-P,N,D,D1,D2 & 4wd. Engine starts fine and runs well. When I shift into reverse the engine acts as though it is in nuetral. I have replaced the TPS and Air Idle Sensor. Why has the reverse gear suddenly stopped working? How can I repair this and restore reverse gear?

I believe your model trans has solenoids in it. If so yours could have a loose wire connection or bad reverse solenoid.

Thank you for the helpful answer. Are these solenoids accessible from outside the transmission? Or do I have to remove the pan to access them?
