Ford bantam 2010 1.3i xl. Facelift
Hi guys,
Often when I try cranking my van, the starter turns in its
housing and doesn't seem to kick in, or it kicks in but doesn't
actually crank the motor. Security light wise all good goes off
stays off. No other issues, bakkie eventually cranks, but
needs a pushes encouragement or just misteriously comes
right.
Van doesn't run weird etc, but does sometimes idle around 2k
when cold. Other than that, problem usually when cold, once
the motor is at normal running temp, she seems to want to
crank more often.
Had starter off to see what damage to the bendix could be
noted, but it is stiff both ways and can't be turned simply by
hand.
Other than that, doesn't crank slow or sound like a dead
battery.
But now that I have a small amount of petrol, (usually run on
light) problem seems to be much better. Instead of the usual
five minute struggle she cranks on 2nd try or so.
But let that light go on, and I am back to swearing.
Could this be a wiring issue, or would someone suggest it be
a bendix or a solenoid.
Wouldn't have mentioned it if it hadn't been relevant. As this
is every time. Not just sometimes.
