Anti lock braking system

Maybe the E brake is defective. I Had the same problem. The brakes shoes for the E-brake had fallen apart and were out of place. Ruined the magnetic ring on the axle. Now the antilock doesn’t work and the check 4wd and antilock lights stay on. Also cruise control doesn’t work.
The antilock brakes and traction control systems work together. So when the computer detects a problem with one of the systems both are disabled and both warning lights come on. Since you're hearing a noise when braking the problem is most likely in the antilock brakes. Possibly a dirty sensor or maybe you need new brake pads and brake rotors. Hope that helps! Jim
