thermostat and sensor issue

2011 Audi A4, check engine light went on, and diagnostic is thermostat and sensor issue.  car runs fine, not overheating or leaking fluid.  what needs to be replaced

Your thermostat may be stuck open and not allowing the engine to reach normal operating temperature. On a computer controlled engine the engine must reach operating temperature within a certain time period from a cold start up. Usually within 10 minutes. If it doesn't the check engine light will come on and a trouble code will be stored for the thermostat. Hope that helps! Jim
