Question type: Maintenance & Repair

They gave me an estimate of charges and I went home to look because I thought I had
replaced timing belt and water pump, which I did one year ago.  They took those parts off
the estimate but they did not reduce the amount of labor charges because they said they
still have to take those off to fix the other parts.  Is that correct?

I have a 1995 Camry and the only thing I have replaced is the timing belt and water pump. Mine has 230K on it. I have never replaced the oil pan gasket, crankshaft seals, or valve seals. I think I did replace the valve cover gasket. Unless your car smokes like crazy on start up, you shouldn't need valve seals. If your car isn't leaking large puddles of oil all over the driveway, you shouldn't need and oil pan gasket kit or crankshaft seals either. I think thy're just blowing smoke up your tail pipe.......
